about

"Rapid's Interlude" features Rapid, an extremely dope MC from Protea Glen. If you've been following my work for the past few years then you'll know that the last time he was on a joint I produced was in 2011 when he appeared on Axe-Ray, MaseVen and Sbuda P's "Dangerbox Mixtape", on a track called "Hit 'em" (alongside W.A.R. Bandit and MaseVen - you can check out the track on MaseVen's Soundcloud page). I don't exactly remember when or how it happened but after a while not being in touch with Rapid, I eventually got his contacts again last year. I invited him over to the studio to work on a joint for my project and he agreed. We recorded a joint for the project called "Bring It On". As much as I love the joint, it just didn't fit with the project (I will drop it as a stand alone track in the not-so-distant future though). Anyway, I played Rapid some of the other joints on the project and he went buckwild when he heard "Party Ya Mapantsula". He loved the beat and the track so much that he asked if he could spit a verse on the beat, even if the verse wasn't exactly part of the song (to be dropped as a freestyle in future or whatever). I then got the idea to just add his verse as an interlude at the end of "Party Ya Mapantsula". When we recorded the verse there were other gents in studio (one of them being none other than Rev Tumza). The verse was so brilliant, everyone in studio gave a round of applause when he finished. I initially wanted the interlude to come right at the end of the song, but it's so dope I decided to let it stand alone in the project ('cause I'm pretty sure peeps will want to put it on repeat - haha) and name it "Rapid's Interlude".
